Duties: Under the supervision of the Independence Coach Support Manager, the Independence Coach will promote, encourage, and safeguard the independence, community integration, and natural supports of people that SRVS supports. Specifically, he or she will encourage the person to engage in meaningful experiences based on their interests; allow the person to take the lead as much as possible; coach the person to manage their daily lives; arrange for the person to explore meaningful activities in the community, among many other person-centered objectives.
REQUIREMENTS: High School diploma or G.E.D. required. Associates degree preferred. Must have the ability to read and understand hand-written and printed material, including documents and contracts; must have the ability to write correspondence and required reporting legibly; must effectively communicate with and respond to questions from medical personnel, staff, stakeholders, and general public. Must have at least one year of direct care support experience. Upon hire the CLC must successfully complete an Independence Coach Training Course in order to obtain certification as a SRVS Independence Coach.
